Other activities we will be supporting
Park Fit Event
FoSP has received funding to support a series of exercise classes to be hosted across parks in Spondon. Running for 10 weeks, a variety of exercise classes will be made available. Each week a different park will host the classes.
Relaunch Linear Park
A new path is being constructed along the length of Linear Park. As this completes FoSP would like to compliment this effort with community led improvements across the park. This can finish with a relaunch of the park within the community.
Enoch Stone Mystery Trail
A fun puzzle trail that explores Spondon to solve an unsolved mystery.
Geo Caches on Spondon Parks
Add Geo Caches to the parks in Spondon.
FoSP Action Hours
FoSP are planning to run monthly action hours to get the community to help improve the parks in Spondon. These will cover a variety of activities on the parks such as litter picking.
Fundraising for South Avenue Park
We are aiming to create a new play area on South Avenue Park in 2022. This will need significant funding to create an excellent space for the community. Throughout 2021 fundraising activities would be completed to allow the park to be created.
Borrow Wood Park Nature Area
Develop the southern end of Borrow Wood park so that it becomes a Nature Area offering a different environment on the park.
Dog Poop Bag Dispensers
Working together FOSP, Derby Parks, Derby City Council & Derby Homes are pioneering a trial of Dog Poop Bag Dispenser at two of the parks in Spondon. These will be the first across the city.
Trees for Spondon
The ambition of Trees for Spondon is to plant one tree for every person in Spondon – 12,000 trees! FoSP will be support this effort where new plantation are being created across the parks in Spondon. Check out the Trees for Spondon website for full details.
