About the park
The park is about 1 hectare in size.
South Avenue park is Spondon forgotten war memorial.
After the Armistice in 1918 a memorial in St Werburghs’s Church was unveiled. In additional to this the village wanted a memorial that could be used by the community.
Fundraising continued with a view to acquiring a playing field. The donations raised by the people of Spondon were sufficient to buy the field known as Horse Croft.
See the information board at the park for more details.
